Apartment Superstore

Taken To New Heights

"Within two years Excelerator has taken me from a suburban real estate agent to a major player in the apartment market with real global potential"

Jack Brukarz. Owner. Apartment Superstore.

Jack Brukarz was running a traditional Ray White real estate when he had a vision to create a business that was focused on the growing apartment building, had a buyer rather than seller focus and which rejected many of what he regarded were the unsavory practices so common in the industry.

An Excelerator team was appointed to build the vision. A business plan was developed which focused on a strong on line presence, strict adherence to document systems, a focus on B2B relationships with developers and the development of close client relationships.

Within two years Apartment Superstore’s revenues have increased by over 600% and it has become a respected leader in the industry selling properties for some of Australia’s leading developers. Apartment Superstore is now a referred sales organisation by a major national bank and has opened Australia’s first apartment superstore in Richmond.

Jack now has a valuable brand that he owns and controls and is looking to take interstate and overseas rather than brand that was taking him where he did not want to go.

Bluestone Upholstery

Sound Construction Drives Success

"NEM provided the business with the complimentary business skills I do not have. It is a great partnership"

David Lidrea. Owner. Bluestone Upholstery.

Growth is something that most business owners desire for their businesses but strong growth can lead to potential business failure unless managed tightly. Despite several large retail customers and sales which continued to grow, tight margins, specification changes and extended payment terms all contributed to Bluestone having a cash flow crisis.

Bluestone’s accountants, GFM & Associates, could see the business was in trouble and asked NEM to assist.
An initial business review identified the key issues causing the problems that the business was facing.

NEM was then engaged on an interim management basis to implement the reviews recommendations dealing with the strategic and financial management of the business. This left the business owner to continue to focus on the factory, product and customers.

Whilst Bluestone operates in an industry sector that has been ravaged as a result of low cost imports it now continues to grow in terms of sales and profit whilst keeping a much tighter control on cash flow. Operating profit increased over 300% on the previous year and all creditors are now paid within commercial terms.

Colrain

Speeding A Truck Business Forward

'The guidance and support given...was foremost in the ability to achieve an excellent return."

Colin Deverson. Owner. Colrain.

Its wholesale division represents many major local and international brands in truck and trailer components. The manufacturing division services truck trailers.

Collins & Co the recommended that management develop the untapped potential of the business. A key requirement was the development of a Business Plan that enabled the management to focus on the key fundamentals of the business whilst implementing the growth strategies. Collins and Co was responsible initiating a review of management and the organisational structure of the business.

Key elements of the Business Plan were the business direction, profitability, financial and inventory control, personnel development, sales growth, new products and the opening of additional branches. The business developed a strong strategic direction and improved its management and financial controls. Market share was increased and profitability increased substantially.

The business was prepared for sale and was eventually sold to Maxitrans a publicly listed company. The guidance and support given to the Colrain Management by Collins & Co was foremost in the ability to achieve an excellent return when the shareholders decided to sell the business.
